Surg Lt Cdr Al Lovell takes 2nd place in the Interservices MTB competition

The Royal Navy Royal Marines Cycling Association hosted the Inter-Service Mountain Bike Championships which were held on Sat 3 Sept at Combe Sydenham, Taunton as part of the SW Regional Championships.

The top three in the Interservices were: 1st Simon Harrison RAF

2nd Al Lovell RN 1:48.11

3rd Neil Richardson RAF 1:53.39

The RNRMCA results were: 1st Al Lovell

2nd Ollie Yates.

Unfortunately the Army didn't take part but those who took podium places are well deserving of applause, the guys from Shred Events put together a mammoth course which tested even the most accomplished rider. The final descent was just short of a mile of pure Downhill and completing the four laps meant climbing 1700 mts.

Special mention should also go Alex Bingham, Bagsy Bagwell who, coming from Hampshire weren't use to the amount of climbing so for them a Lap of the course was a step well out of their comfort zones.

Finally Slinger Woods managed to earn himself a free trip in an ambulance with a dislocated shoulder and broken elbow.
